Some of the things it says is a little bit frightening, though. Like where it talks about the punishment of the fallen angels. Also, Enoch describes what hell looks like. It scared the heck out of me when I read it. Considered the Book of Enoch is not included within the Holy Bible I am not sure it is completely accurate. The Secrets of the Book of Enoch says that the souls of animals will accuse a man on the judgment day if he had treated that animal badly.

A fascinating yet frightening look behind the scenes in heaven, it is a book handed down to Methusaleh by his father Enoch before the Flood and yes, angels could write and yes, Enoch was a scribe. It's intention is to be a warning to generations to come. It explains judgement on various generations and the form thereof as well as God's intolerance to sin and disobedience which started with the fall of Angels and their destiny. It explains situations we, as Christians, often ponder on. Here we find a lot of answers, and it is a shame that this book is not better known or read by God fearing Christians. I highly recommend it, very appropriate for these last days.

This book helped me to understand parts of the Bible that were sometimes unclear, and for me it brought a whole knew understanding to what was happening in the Old Testament and brought the New testament up to modern times and what is going on in the world today, but mostly it helped me to understand why there is so much hatred for GOD, Israel and America at this time.

This book isn't for everyone. It's for those seekers who know that there is more to the Bible than what is being taught. But if you're the kind of person who holds on to every word your pastor says as if it's law, then this book isn't for you.

This was one of the best books I have ever read! The book of Enoch was once loved and considered just as valid as any other book of the Bible. The era in which Enoch was given is the origin of many quotes given by the prophets, by Y'shua and his apostles as well that are found throughout scripture. It gives full explanation of the 'giants' (only slightly mentioned in Genesis and the origin of evil spirits, and further gives the history of fallen angels. The book of Enoch, the earliest in ancient times, yields more prophecy of any other book and takes you on a ride from his day, through the flood, to the Messiah and onward to the end of days...all in one book. And why was it taken out of circulation?...because when it was discovered it transgressed the doctrines of Jew and Gentile alike.

This appears to be a print on demand copy of the book on Enoch because the date of publish was about 3 days before I received it in the mail. There is no commentary. The book is littered with typos, missing or incorrect words and is horribly formatted with pages containing widows and orphans and verse numbers floating in the middle of paragraphs. Sentences end without periods, then continue on the next line... what a mess. The cover has a nice soft touch velvet feel, but the cover text looks like it was output on a dot matrix printer back in 1989.Pretty disappointed with this copy and I'm only keeping it because I intend to highlight and write notes all over it, so I really don't care that much about appearances.

I've read this book twice online but wanted one I could have in my hands. The cover is amazing; it's almost like suede leather and gives that antique look which is so appropriate. No serious Bible student should be without this amazing book. I've found literally dozens of verses that are directly quoted in new testament, not just the obvious two.

The Ancient of Days has fashioned a well-orchestrated creation. Everything from humans to angles to luminaries to animals have a purpose, a calling. But some in the creation choose not to prescribe to their appointed roles.Enoch is blessed and given beforehand knowledge of God’s plan for the redemption of His sheep and the punishment of the rebellious. This book is not an easy read. I searched outside sources to help me understand what was being described in some of the visions given. Words in some sections of the book have double meanings.

A quick, light read. This is definitely based of the TV show that used to run on CW. As the title says this book is the story of the brothers and when they became vampires. Starting when Stefan meets Kathrine. The basics of their meeting and time together in 1864. This fells in the holes that weren't covered in the show of the events that occurred. Of course this is all through Stefan's eyes and perspective. We see little of Damon in the story as he isn't quite as present at the house. We also get a touch of the first counsel meetings with the key players of the town. Am interested to see if more of these "founding" families pop up in later books in this series.

I love L.J. Smith as a writer and she didn't disappoint with this one. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say it was a really fun read and sucks you into that vampire worlds we've all come to love from her. So if you haven't already read the vampire diariesThe Vampire Diaries: The Awakening you should definitely do so.And if you are like me and love this type of book i can also recommend the Sookie Stackhouse books Definitely Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novelor really anything by Charlaine Harris. As well as a great book about a young witch. the Magic withinThe Magic Within or anything by S.B. Stewart The Alchemist's Gift (Adventures of Rhonda Lewis)HAPPY READING!!

I watched all the episodes on Netflix and wanted more. More in depth of Stefan's life before Katherine.I think it did just that and it followed the show a bit also.I had heard the other v.d. Books were not as good as these. Glad I gave these a chance the only thing that I don't like is the price.I usually never pay this much for a book and less for a kindle book.Well maybe it could have been longer also cause I read it in one day.But through all of these faults I say if you are a fan of the show probably not a fan of the original books or read them at all then you will be pretty happy with this series. Now I'm off to read the next one with yummy Damon on the cover.

The danger of having too many books in a series is they become almost like a soap opera. I do think this book was one of the better ones; it doesn't get too far out with demon foxes and spirits; it is based more on realism (as real as one can get with vampires!). The history of Stephan and Damon's family was interesting (more Damon would have been nice). I have no complaints with the writing and the book was entertaining enough. But like all the Vampire Diary books, it lacked a certain depth. For what it was, it was pretty good though. I have to say, if you are going to write a soap opera style book (a harlequin romance with vampires) - then price it accordingly.

Great book. Am going to read it again. And recommend it to others. Will read the full series. Loved it

I have always been a fan of the supernatural this is an amazing read. I could not put it down. I read it all in 2 days and now starting on the 2nt one

Okay so if you're new to Vampire Diaries? This is the book based on tv show that is based on the book series. Got that? No? Allow me to explain.LJ Smith wrote the original Vampire Diaries series (which she is still writing as of the time I am posting this review). Then they go and make a tv show based on those characters (on the air as of the time I am posting). This book, if you just glance at it states she is one of the authors on the listing, but really if you look closer it's just based on her characters. Also based both on the cover and a reading of the book it's clearly targeted at the people who love the show specifically more than the fans of the books. In fact if you've watched the show, it will seem eerily familiar as it sticks fairly true to the Stefan backstory as presented to us thus far in the show.If you've been keeping up with the more recent LJ Smith Vampire Diary books, you'll definitely feel the difference both in that this is written by others and that it's meant to be a companion piece to the show instead of the book series. It has a slightly darker more adult tone than the book series and doesn't feel as shall we say "out there" as some of the LJ Smith ones have felt recently. If you're a fan of the series I don't think you'll be disappointed though you won't feel as though there is anything new here if you've been watching the show. The second Stefan diary sounds a bit more promising in that department.

Let me start of by saying I have pre-ordered the next two, so when I say the bad things about the book, it has not turned me off. I would have liked it better if there had not been glaring errors, like the TV series has several times talked about Damon being hurt seeing Kat and Stefan dancing at the first Founder's Day Ball. The book says they never danced and in fact never stay or saw Damon. Also it seems that this was NOT the first FD Ball. There are several more errors that should have been easy to correct if someone had written the book that had even seen the series. Does not say who wrote this book, but there again, it was interesting if I just left the series out of the equation and enjoy the story...which I did. And of course at each mention of Damon all I could see was Ian.lolSince it does say based on the novels and the TV series, I was hoping for more of the latter, since I have not read any of the L.J.Smith books and don't want to until the TV show has run its course. If you love the TV show, go ahead and get this book, most of it does follow the show.

There is no one better to offer a retrospective of the life of Nesta Robert Marley than Mr. Roger Steffens. For years he has been archiving everything he can find related to an artist the world has come to love and appreciate almost as much as Roger does. It is that respect and love that comes across in the pages of this book as he reveals a more complete picture of Bob Marley's life than we have ever had before. This is not a book about celebrating Bob's greatness - it is a book about really getting to know the guy. Roger talks with most every important person in Bob's life to find out their impressions of Bob. Mr Steffens paints a vivid and shimmering picture for us of how this country youth from Jamaica who apparently was not much of a singer or musician in his early years would grow to become one of the best known and loved musical and cultural personalities on the planet. The fact that Roger Steffens is a Brooklyn born, middle class white American just adds to the significance of the story he tells. This story really has little to do with race or separateness - it is about the triumph of One Love Inity. I believe Robert Marley captivated Mr. Steffens for the same reason he continues to attract the attention of the world - Marley's mission was not about fame and fortune in the music industry - it was about freedom and human dignity and hope. I have not yet finished the book and I really don't want it to end too soon. It is a fascinating read and it does so much more than chronicle a man's life - it captures the Spirit of his mission to just be Bob and be a force of love, hope and redemption in the world for all time.Thank you Bob and Roger for being such strong voices adding love, joy and hope to our world.

For an average white boy from the suburbs, reggae grabbed me hard and has never let go.Roger Steffens and I had stumbled on this sublime musical form in much the same way while living in the Bay Area in 1973. Over the years he has become the leading Bob Marley authority, and like me came to value reggae as not just a wonderful musical genre but a very special way to see the world.Oral histories can be messy, but that is why they can be far more illuminating than straight nonfiction prose. In the case of “So Much Things To Say,” this format and the sometimes contradictory memories of Bob render a humanness to a man who has been endlessly mythologized.

I began going to Jamaica during Easter break in 1972 and was introduced to the Wailers and Bob by a man I came to know who had a stand up in the hills overlooking MoBay. Many subsequent hours and trips to Jamdown I spent with Junior in his hill top yard, chalice in hand, listening to the Wailers and Bob as their music matured and roots culture spread globally. My first trip to Nine Mile after Bob passed was a milestone. This book brings back so many lasting memories it's just wonderful.

If you don't know a lot about Bob Marley, most of this book will be over your head. This is a truly wonderful book that fills in the details of events as told by those who were there. Oral history books do not spoon feed you with an overview of the stories they tell. You need to have an appreciation of who is telling the stories and how the information enriches what you already know. I love Jamaica, its history, its music, and all thing Marley. I have read many books on Marley, listened to all the music of Marley- and those before, with, and after him. The Marley videos and a trip to Kingston are required for the true fan. I am devouring every word of this book. Thanks for creating a wonderful source of information for us true fans of Bob Marley

I loved this book. There is so much information here and so many stories to inform you and entertain you. The oral history format really allows you to feel the rhythm in the conversation of so many key people in music history. If you are a Marley fan or a reggae aficionado, this book is a must read. You should have access to his music while you read this - you will want to re-listen to much of it as the classic albums and tracks are discussed. If you don't know a lot about reggae history and Bob Marley, this might not be the best first source to read. There are lots of other good books to read out there. But if you are a fan. Or were a fan. Or maybe forgot the magic you felt when you first listened to Survival, this book is definitely for you.

The participants in this book provide an insightful and in-depth account of one of musics greatest icons and influences

Every serious Marley or reggae fan should read this book! I was so impressed by the author's approach to telling Marley's life story, skillful weaving of his own experiences with an amazing cast of interview subjects. In doing so, Steffens creates a picture of Marley's powerful musical legacy by giving us an inside view of the creative process that led to this catalog of music that only gets better with age! The book also helped me really understand how Bob Marley's music, his Rasta convictions and message of hope, and how it came to be such a force for positive change in the world. Thank you, Roger Steffens!

This is the best Bob Marley book you will ever read! It is told to you by the real people who were there every step of the way! Buy it now!

Loulou & Yves: The Untold Story of Loulou de La Falaise and the House of Saint Laurent, by Christopher Petkanas

Review

"Loulou de La Falaise was “a cross between Holly Golightly and Sally Bowles,” in the words of André Leon Talley ― though you might also think of her as Cosette from “Les Misérables,” grown up to become the heroine of a Jackie Collins novel. A paragon of effortless glamour, Loulou twice married well (“I am not a gold digger or anything like that, but I usually do manage to get a castle. … My two husbands both have fabulous ones”) and, living a life brimming with sex, drugs and cosmopolitan éclat, charmed her way to the top of the international fashion order by becoming the longtime muse to Yves Saint Laurent, who imbued his designs with her turbans-and-tunics chic only to leave her with nothing.Petkanas opts for oral history, letting de La Falaise (who died in 2011) and her flashy circle tell her tale. What results is an affirmation of both the fashion industry as a pit of facile, well-accessorized vipers and the fascination that de La Falaise engendered, due not only to her role as haute gamine but to her indifference to the whole glittering shebang. The more she telegraphed that she didn’t care, the more they did. The book ― assembled from 153 original interviews, along with countless excerpts from letters, diary entries, articles and other ephemera ― takes the reader on a dizzying carousel ride around hundreds of boldface European names and the details of their louche lives in the ’70s and ’80s. Even for those not invested in the minutiae of the jet set, it’s a literary champagne cocktail that goes down easy as it sloshes from quote to quote, each one scandalous, wry, vicious, knowing or salacious, and often all five. Petkanas delivers a meticulous dissection of our endless fascination with the modish, bewitching women who refuse to let us in, and upon whom we project our fantasies, desires, even our hatred." ―Michael Callahan, The New York Times Book Review "... the high-fashion world of yesteryear... has been brought back to life in a compulsively readable oral history, Loulou & Yves: The Untold Story of Loulou de La Falaise and the House of Saint Laurent―though that tome likewise has some lessons we might all take on board... So what does it really mean to be a designer’s 'muse'? Read the book and find out."―Vanessa Friedman, The New York Times "The legendary LouLou de la Falaise and Thadee Klossowski... Paloma Picasso and Bianca Jagger... the late Pierre Berge and Yves Saint Laurent... Baronne Guy de Rothschild, social queen of Paris! Read all about these sacred monsters in Christopher Petkanas['s] LouLou and Yves. This book is an oral biography of Paris fashion between the glittering years when LouLou was the light between all the characters! It's a modern Balzac history! You will want to give the book and also read it. It soars! It roars! Petkanas has achieved in this book, a smash artistic hit... absorb[ing] you in the history of high fashion in the 70s."―André Leon Talley, fashion journalist and subject of the documentary "The World According to André" "Red-hot."―Fern Mallis, host of "Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis" at the 92nd Street Y, NYC "A must read!"―Sandra Bernhard, actress, comedian and host of Sandyland on SiriusXM"... at 495 pages, [Loulou & Yves] will no doubt prove essential reading for anyone fascinated with the Saint Laurent legend." ―Joelle Diderich, Women's Wear Daily "[Loulou & Yves] ruffles fancy feathers."―Richard Johnson, New York Post “Like all good biographies, Loulou & Yves… is a portrait of not just its subject… but of her place and time... The result is a crackling good read with a pleasing superabundance of salt, wit and dish; even the contributor bios are snarky.”―Nell Baram, Shelf Awareness, MainStreet BookEnds“For 30 years, [Loulou de La Falaise] helped Saint Laurent see things through rose-coloured glasses. A new book reveals why the troubled designer was drawn to his right-hand woman’s more-is-more style… As detailed in Christopher Petkanas’s… Loulou & Yves, De la Falaise was by Yves Saint Laurent’s side for 30 years."―Lauren Cochrane, The Guardian"From the book: 'On the theory that everyone loves a cocktail party, and because people with a drink in their hand tend to be candid, Loulou & Yves traces Loulou’s life chronologically through the memories of more than two hundred voices: husbands, lovers, extended family, friends, enemies, slightly less bitter detractors, colleagues, groupies, Yves, pundits, hangers-on and Grace Jones.' The good news is that you are all invited to eavesdrop on every morsel of information and tidbit of gossip that so many so freely offer at this 'party.'―Jeffrey Felner, New York Journal of Books

Lots of back biting and score-settling, an unflattering portrait of mostly trifling real and pretend aristocrats and their very junior high lunch table in and out crowd antics. Not a very in-depth bio of Loulou, unfortunately. To compare this to Jean Stein's and George Plimpton's Edie Sedgwick's book is a joke, the latter being a much better book. Who are all these "titled" Euros and why should we care about their bitchy and unfunny comments? Too bad, I was looking forward to reading more about Loulou and not happy about all the blather about her annoying mother, not interesting.

This book is absolutely mesmerizing and I loved it. You come away with enormous sympathy for Loulou. Her family history was fascinating too. Well-researched, beautifully compiled, lovely photos. My only issue was the unnecessarily bitchy, junior high school score settling the author indulged in, especially in the brief bios of the various participants at the end. The book would have been so much stronger without it-- it really diminishes what should have been a powerful work.

Fun book to read but too heavy to comfortably hold. Buy the kindle

I'm really enjoying reading all the quips in this book! And learning more about some of the characters I've only read about for years. One of the things I love about it, is that I can sit down for a few minutes, read a few pages and learn and enjoy.. It's not like getting tied up in a novel where its tough to stop in the middle of a chapter and pick it up later. Especially for those of us who remember reading about these characters who seemed to live such carefree, fashionable and exciting lives!!! It's really fun to read! Don't miss it!!!

if i was interested in fashion this book would/has killed it for ever

Wonderful time line

This is the strangest format for a book I've ever encountered. What was his editor thinking?? Trying to read this mess gives you vertigo.

What a fabulous book! I ordered several copies and even bought two more in addition to give out as presents to my fashion-loving friends and clients. I took quite a while to complete the book, because it was so dense and so filled with absorbing material that I kept re-reading passages and even whole chapters - ergo the delayed response and review. Now, I want to read it again. Get the book and ENJOY! Congratulations, Christopher Petkanas, on a superb job of assembling all the material from the many, many interviews you conducted for writing a fascinating study of an important, mostly unrecognized for HOW important, figure in the history of 20th century design, Loulou de La Falaise.
