The book is full of fabulous information that makes using oils easy and part of your every day life.Ten challenges are issued throughout the book to get new oilers using their oils and understanding more about them. The book says it will walk you through using oils in 2 hours and it did just that. I timed myself and it took less than 90 minutes to read. I've been looking for something to put in the hands of my members who aren't using their oils or who have gone inactive. These people are either overwhelmed or haven't taken the time to learn, they won't come to classes or are too far away and some aren't online. I've tried reaching out, I've tried online classes and videos. They are just people I think(hope) need something in their hands they can easily flip through at soccer practice or while waiting for their kids to finish school or sitting on the couch one evening.I've been following Sarah since I read her Gameplan book and was excited to see her posts about Fearless. After reading it all I can say is it is fabulous! I *think* it might be exactly what I've been searching for.It's short, but packed with information. She's relatable, reminds them why they decided to buy their kit in the first place and lays it all out there as to why they should actually be using it now. She challenges them to do simple things and start making them habits.I think every single member of my team would benefit from this book. I can't count the number of people who have told me they are nervous about using their oils wrong or are overwhelmed by all the information in the pocket reference or who just haven't had the time to open their box and figure it all out. This book may be little, but it packs a punch. I promise you won't be sorry you got it and shared it.

This book is a wonderful resource for how to use the oils in Young Living's Premium Starter Kit. Sarah starts off by explaining how oils are the bridge to natural health. She shares her story of how she got turned onto oils and the value of paying attention to a toxic free life. She shares information about reading labels and how this will help you make good choices about fats, sugars, and food. She explains a lot about the dangerous chemicals that are on the market today and how using oils and supplements will help you live a safer non-toxic life. She explains how to safely use oils and how to use them aromatically, topically, and internally. She provides lists of ways to use the 11 oils in the starter kit, and she provides numerous resources to consult for more information. This includes recipes, blogs, books, movies, publishing companies, websites, and ways to research topics online. I'm convinced that this book will really help those Young Living members who bought kits but have barely used them. It could even motivate people to become members simply by explaining the value of living a life of oils. Sarah also explains Essential Rewards at the end of the book so people will better understand the value of joining Essential Rewards. One of my favorite parts is her 10 challenges that coincide with all of the information she shares. It gives readers a chance to try her advice. This is a great resource for newbies as well as those of us who have been involved in oils for a while. This is definitely a wonderful how to book enhanced by intelligent information about why we should all be using oils.

Love these booklets! I've been giving these out to some of my new yl members. Sarah gives her background story, which is incredibly inspiring, and the rest if the book is a 101 class! It's nice that people can have all of that in 1 little book to reference whenever they need a reminder or that little push to get them oiling! <3

Sarah delivers once again! Her practical approach to becoming a life long oiler does exactly what the book says, it takes the 'fear' out of using essential oils. She gives step by step instructions and several useful challenges to help the new oiler actually USE their oils. This is a review for the BOARD BOOK only, I love this book and the story for kids, and I have purchased it several times for gifts. This board book version is just wrong- what is supposed to be the first page and last page of the story are actually the front and back covers of the board book! Also I find some of the beauty of the illustrations are not accurately reproduced in the board book version. I am getting a refund and ordering the hardback version. It's a nice book, a fun read for little ones with beautiful illustrations - but not in this board book format. Stay away from this!

I love this story, and the illustrations. It was one of my son's favorites, so i bought this hard board version for my grandson. I was very disappointed to find that the first page of the story is also the cover, which interrupts the rhyming. But mostly disappointed that the last page of the book (which serves as the back cover), does NOT contain all the illustrations in the original book. I loved how you can spot all the animals in the little boy's room in the original on the final page...but the room is not shown on this final page/back cover....all to save a bit of cost, I suppose, but really ruins the ending of this story. Next time i will not opt for this edition and do not recommend this particular edition of this charming story to anyone!

This is a wonderful story to read to a child. I got my first copy 30+ years ago. The graphics and color quality of that book was excellent. Looking at this version is like looking at a washed out poor copy machine version. Very disappointed to see such poor reprinting quality. 3 stars for story, 0 stars on text/color quality.

This book, "Quick as a Cricket" is a MUST, along with The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear also by Don & Audrey Woods. These titles have been in my library since my children were toddlers (now in their late 20's), and I buy them as a baby gift anytime a friend is having their first baby or grand baby. Both titles absolutely captivate the children, from as early as 10 mos on. (You have to get the hard copy, the pictures are GORGEOUS, so you'll want the full effect). Without fail I have heard back from everyone that these are their child's favorite books (with "The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear" coming in first). These even stop my now 13 1/2 mos old grand son in his tracks (who stops for nothing and has been on the RUN ever since he started walking at 9mos) - He even gets these books out himself and plops down in mom's lap to read - my daughter, even though these were her favorites too, is absolutely AMAZED at the effect they have on her little Hurricane! You can't go wrong with either of these books! Remember to get the hard copies, not the board books or paperbacks.

One of best picture books for children ever. My children loved it, and now my Grandchildren can experience it as well. This makes a great bedtime story book for very young babies to early readers. The prose is well written with some rhyming without being tooo much. For the very awake or strong willed child, we have found that reading at bedtime is an important part of the bedtime ritual that helps some children who have difficulty transitioning from daytime to nighttime.

This is the book I reached for whenever I felt like I needed to deliver this message to my son: People can feel all kinds of things. Sometimes you can feel angry. you can be scared. These are all okay parts of a spectrum of who you are. And you do not need to feel shame about it. You can be all of those things and they do not negate you. You can be "as mean as a shark" and then go back to being "weak as a kitten" no matter what you feel, you can still be you and I love you unconditionally. At the end when the boy says "put it all together... ME!" I know that I've brought us to a place where we can accept ourselves more. I often pair this with the book called I love you because you're you (i think thats what it is called - the mom fox and her son go through all kinds of things but she loves him no matter what)

Yes. This had been a favorite of both sons when they were little. I bought it as a gift, and again it is a favorite book. The illustrations are spectacular. The closing message, "put it all together, and you've got me" is a perfect ending to a perfect book for little ones to explore first pictures and then words.

I used Quick as a Cricket with my Kindergarten Creative Movement class. They loved the movement inherent in the story and we had lots to talk about after we finished exploring the story and illustrations through movement. This book is fun and beautiful and offers lots of potential for Early Childhood classroom use.

First of all, please disregard the review by J. Bielawski. In the footnote to which the reviewer refers, Guenon clearly states that Bo Yin Ra is "outside Theosophy in the strict sense of the word." And in any event, one need only make a cursory glance through Bo Yin Ra's works to see that he deserves to be classed in the same vein as properly Theosophic "thinkers," (see, for instance, his book on the Gospel of John where he calls Christ one of the "Masters," and where he tries to argue that the current text of the Gospel is a corruption--in other words, the same nonsense that is spouted by Theosophists).The present work represents in some sense Guenon taking care of the dirty laundry he acquired from the time he spent in the Parisian occultist milieu in the early 20th century. Some of his critics have never failed to point to this period of Guenon's life to try and discredit his views, some even going so far as to see him as an nothing more than a mere occultist. A judicious reading of his works, however, can only lead to a different conclusion, especially when one considers him in comparison to actual French occultists like Papus or Eliphas Levi. Whatever one thinks of Guenon, he deserves to be taken more seriously than do these latter. Still, Guenon's motives for entering into this bizarre scene are difficult to parse through and there are certain episodes (his involvement with the Gnostic Church or the attempt to constitute a "Renovated Order of the Temple") which are definitely questionable. How seriously did he take these groups at first? Did he plunge into this scene merely to have a better understanding of its inner workings, in order to be able to expose it for the sham that it was? Was he trying to convince himself firsthand the lack of "authentic" initiatic organizations in the West? Or was he trying to attract other serious seekers who were not fully under the sway of Papus' ideas (the French Wikipedia page about Guenon makes clear that he did make contacts important to his intellectual development at this time, particularly Paul Vulliaud [whose work on the Kabbalah he cites frequently] and Matgioi [whose writings on Chinese metaphysics Guenon praised highly])? What is beyond doubt is that Guenon fully and completely repudiates all of these twisted undercurrents in the present work. And his exposé would not be nearly as effective without the extensive firsthand knowledge that he brings to bear in this book. So it is unfair to use these associations to try and cast a shadow on all of Guenon's work, just as unfair as it would be use Evola's appropriation of his ideas for dubious political ends (Fascism, Nazism, etc.) to discredit them as well.Being a work of a more historical and less of a doctrinal nature than many other of Guenon's works, one might at first be tempted to think that the overall importance of "Theosophy: ..." within Guenon's corpus is negligible or at least secondary. In a certain sense, this is true--the metaphysical principles with which he deals more extensively elsewhere have more intrinsic interest. There is still plenty here for a dedicated reader of Guenon, however. In particular, seeing the errors that he always attempted to refute spelled out in complete detail makes it easier to understand why he emphasizes certain points in his other works to such a great extent. The real reason this work is invaluable, though, is the insight it gives into what Guenon calls the "underground" history of our times. In other works, like "Reign of Quantity and the Signs of the Times," Guenon can seem almost paranoid when he speaks of the pseudo-initation and the counter-initiation. This work makes his tone in those works, and the personal fear he had of those dubious groups (see Sedgwick's "Against the Modern World"), more understandable. Indeed, the extent of the influence that the false "ideas" of Theosophic origin have had outside the domain of Theosophy proper is remarkable (I'll mention the Theosophic understanding of "karma" as a moralistic concept, which has no doubt become a commonplace in Western popular culture; though Theosophists themselves disagree about it, "reincarnation" is another idea advocated by some of their writings). Guenon here relates Theosophy to the same modern mental tendencies which have manifested themselves in forms that can seem innocuous to, say, the average American (the list is quite long, but includes [William] Jamesian theories of "religious experience," Bergsonian philosophy, Scouting [i.e. the Boy/Girl Scouts], evangelical Protestantism, the YMCA, the [now] common practice of the "moment of silence," Christian Science, vegetariansim/veganism, etc.). Theosophy is also historically important because it is a precursor to contemporary pseudo-religious phenomena like the New Age movement (it was in fact the former Theosophist Alice Bailey who gave the world the notion of the "Age of Aquarius"), the recent craze about Rhonda Byrne's "The Secret," the increasingly widespread use of yoga for "therapeutic" purposes, or the Church of Scientology (for another fascinating historical report about yet another important precursor to these contemporary pseudo-religions, see Guenon's "The Origins of Mormonism" in the book "Miscellanea"). What these last few sentences should hopefully drive home is the fact that anyone seeking to understand the relatively hidden sources of the contemporary Western mindset should absolutely buy this book so that they are not led astray by the endlessly proliferating false teachings that float around everywhere, obscuring the truth. This book (along with "The Spiritist Fallacy") is certainly helpful in exposing much of the false spirituality that is becoming more and more mainstream in our times.

Note to the authors: Bô Yin Râ had nothing to do with "theosophy", "White Lodge", etc. The footnote on p. 131 which mentions him is factually incorrect and betrays at once the authors never consulted the easily obtainable original sources. The footnote is — in the immortal words of the physicist Wolfgang Pauli — "not even wrong". One might have equally well claimed Albert Einstein was mostly known for his work as a dentist.

This book is a waste of time. The author is thoroughly out of sync with the times, and, even for the times in which it was written, showed a marked lack of real understanding of his subject. Don't bother. There are many other more modern, honest, informed treatments of this subject than this.Update 1/2/13As can be seen from the several negative feedbacks my review of this book has received, I am guessing that there is a rather small group of Guenon devotees that don't agree with me! Nonetheless, anyone with an adequate understanding of Theosophy, not to mention with Eastern teachings such as Hinduism or Buddhism, can only scratch their heads and wonder what he is talking about. For those who would like to see a Theosophically informed response to this book, I suggest doing an internet search for this article: Against Blavatsky: Rene Guenon's Critique of Theosophy. To any open mind it will certainly at least make one a bit skeptical of Guenon's assessment of Theosophy.Incidentally, to anyone considering buying books by Guenon, I suggest that you consider one simple fact: not only does Guenon not seem to agree with the Theosophical perspective on karma and reincarnation, but he grossly misrepresents the traditional Eastern notions on these topics, trying to defend his position (he, for instance, does not believe in reincarnation) by falsely presenting Eastern ideas as closer to his own rejection of reincarnation. Anyone who has a minimal exposure to Eastern thought will immediately recognize how silly his understanding of Eastern ideas on these topics actually is. There may be some good ideas in others of his books (I am sure there must be), but this book is truly awful. If you find value in traditions and teachers like Dzogchen and Tibetan Buddhism, Zen, Advaita Vedanta, Ramana Maharshi, Kirpal Singh, Yogananda, and so on, then it is likely you will find this book misinformed and useless. Frankly, it is shocking to what extent Guenon was ignorant of Buddhist and Hindu teachings, and yet was so highly opinionated about them and Theosophy. For just a taste of this, read the article mentioned above. There can be found numerous examples.

There is so much to enjoy in the latest medical romance creatively written by Susan Carlisle. With the story occurring at Christmas, cheerful celebrations take place and decorating also happens. I love books with a holiday theme, and the author had me eager for the time when I could partake in these activities. The medical scenes are very believable, where an accident can be minor or extremely serious. With its Oklahoma setting, there are plenty of moments that showcase small-town life and numerous friendly residents. When it comes to the romance in the story, there are ups and downs which drew me into the lives of two people who deserve some happiness. Their path to a joyous future is portrayed with realistic circumstances and lots of conflicted emotions.The decision made by Dr. Paxton Samuels to take a leave of absence from his career at a clinic in Boston would hopefully give him some peace of mind after a recent stressful incident. While not working at his current place of employment, his skills will be useful in an Oklahoma town which presently has no doctor. His first task for the community arises even before he gets to his destination, and it concerns an accident plus Lauren Wilson, the only nurse in the area. As Paxton and Lauren get to know one another during the short time he is in Last Stop, their feelings become unexpectedly involved.It was entertaining to watch Paxton be introduced to life in a town with no stoplight. Since I live in a place not much bigger than the rural community in the story, it was fun seeing his reactions to how things were done. The charm of Last Stop was very appealing, as it is a place where folks care about one another. Their pleasure during the holidays was also evident in how the town celebrated as a group. One of the medical emergencies in the story was truly heart-pounding, as Susan Carlisle depicted the situation with much realism, causing me to worry about the outcome.Though Paxton was raised in Boston and lived amongst the rich, he has compassion for his patients, and this fact had me admiring him from the start. I also liked how Lauren let her opinion of him be directed by his actions. How this couple reacted to one another, regardless of the situation, was always convincing. They are honest and sincere with each other, and the times when her young son was with them often put a smile on my face. Two people who seem to fit together find a way to make things work, but will it last?I’m a sucker for an opposites attract story. Susan Carlisle is a go-to author for me. The writing is always sparkling and keeps me right in my seat until the last page. This book was no different.Paxton and Lauren are great characters. Fully-fleshed and fun, they show the magic of the holiday throughout the story. I loved the doctor in the country storyline. Susan Carlisle writes the plotline, which could be trite, in a fresh perspective.Paxton is out of his element. He’s in a small town, with no traffic lights, is snowed in and has to help care for a child. I liked how he dealt with each hurdle. He was very real to me. Then there’s Lauren. She’s no-nonsense. She knows what she wants and isn’t always ready to grab it (him) because she’s got to concentrate on her son. I liked how they were both realistic. I fell for both characters and wanted to see them not only have a great Christmas, but a happy ending, too.If you’re looking for a sweet read that’s sure to heat up the holidays or the chilly winter nights, then this might be the one you’re looking for.
