Chocolate-Peanut Butter Brownies ¾ cup (1½  sticks) unsalted butter 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces 4 large eggs 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup all-purpose flour ¼ teaspoon salt 6 tablespoons smooth peanut butter ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips   Makes 16 brownies   Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, extending it up and over the sides on 2 sides. Select a saucepan and a heatproof bowl that fits snugly on top of the pan. Fill the pan one-third full of water, making sure the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl. Ask an adult to help you place the saucepan over medium heat. When the water is steaming, place the bowl on top of the saucepan and add the butter and chocolate to the bowl. Heat, stirring with a rubber spatula, until the mixture is melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Don’t let the chocolate get too hot! Ask an adult to help you remove the bowl from the saucepan (the bowl will be hot!) and set aside to cool slightly. In a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the eggs on medium speed until pale, about 4 minutes. Add the sugar and vanilla and beat until well combined. Turn off the mixer. Add the chocolate and beat until blended. Turn off the mixer and scrape down the bowl with a rubber spatula. Stir in the flour and salt with the rubber spatula just until blended. Scrape the batter into the pan and smooth the top. Using a tablespoon measure, drop 6 dollops of peanut butter over the top, spacing them evenly. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (ask an adult for help!), 25 to 30 minutes. Ask an adult to help you remove the pan from the oven and put it on a wire rack. Let cool completely, then cut into 16 squares and serve.

I actually bought this for my 8 years old son who loves to cook & BAKE! Unfortunately, there's not really a bakebook made for "boys," so I just opt for this one & we can care less that it's a book for "girls!" My son wanted to make the Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwhich, & that exactly what he did! It was delicious! We half the frosting to frost only half of the cookies, & the other we left them just as is. The actual sandwhich was a little sweet to my taste, but eating the cookie by itself was delicious! We- he.. is so excited to go through the rest of the book!!

My daughter got this baking cookbook for her birthday, a week ago, and has already made 4 different cookie recipes. They have all been wonderful! She loves this book and has plans to make more things soon.

We have loved every recipe we have tried so far. Fun and easy. -a lot of the same ingrediants are used throughout the book so if you buy the staples you're set!

My 7 year old daughter loves American girl and recently has gotten into baking so I thought this cookbook would be a good fit. She is beyond happy with this cookbook and so am I! She wanted real recipes, from scratch, and that's exactly what this book is. No use of mixes or decorating store bought treats. These are great, real recipes. So far We've made the raspberry chocolate tartlets and the strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and both have turned out excellent.

I bought this for my 10 year old niece for Christmas. She hasn't seen it yet but I went through it and am excited to try the recipes. I'm a baker and love new recipes and these actually look pretty great! I'm excited for her to open her gift on Christmas. I might have to make sure we have some ingredients on hand in case she wants to bake that day.

My teen daughter wanted a “starter” baking book. I was worried she would be turned off by the American Girl branding as she has long outgrown dolls, but the reviews convinced me. She has now made 4 of the recipes very successfully and loves the book. It was a super cute gift (along with measuring cups/spoons/spatula/whisk/madeleines pan/etc.

Our 9 year old daughter loves to bake and this was the perfect gift for Christmas. She was so excited to get this and has made several recipes in the last couple months.If you get this for your daughter you should have ear plugs handy because she will probably shriek for joy at the combination of cooking and OMG American Girl!!! You will totally be the best mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandpa, grandma, friend, cousin, or random person in the world.

Have tried a few recipes and so far they have been great! The only thing we have noticed on a few recipes is that is will say it makes a certain amount of servings but it actually made less. Overall great book for the girls!

Love this recipe book! I got it for my six year old and though I have to help with every recipe, it’s great for kids. It’s not lame like some of those kid baking books. It really teaches them how to bake from scratch, which my daughter loves to do! Great pictures! We are going through all of the recipes and are determined to bake them all!

There is an extreme amount of fluff in this book. I believe it is do to the author constantly suggesting to buy other books on Amazon, and purchasing a course. I purchased this Bible as I was starting my second pass at reading the entire scriptures and dig for deeper understanding.The artwork is beautiful and the devotionals included throughout are relevant and relatable. I am working my way through this in combination with a devotional series that will point me to a scripture that I then read within the chapter as a whole.The Bible is well constructed in both the imitation letter and the linen. The layout is study friendly and visually wonderful.I noted some other reviews commented on the thinness of the pages. I can confirm they are thin, but that is how traditional Bibles are supposed to feel. I keep a separate journal for my notes and thoughts with highlights and minimal notation in the Bible itself. Light highlighting does not bleed through as long as you use the Bible highlighters.I maintain my 5 star rating, but I will caution on the weight and size of this Bible. It is not a version to be carried with you for everyday reference. I keep one in my office and one at home. I carry it to church. But it is a very thick and weighty version due to all the wonderful reference maps and notes throughout.If you are torn between which version to purchase, I can speak to both the linen and the imitation leather. The linen cover is very nice, lays flat and feels nice in your hand. But if weight is a concern, go with the leather. It's a touch lighter, feels wonderful in your hand and makes a better presentation.I greatly appreciate the work these women of God put into organizing this wonderful edition to help those of us seeking to learn, advance our knowledge and grow spiritually in our relationship with Christ.

My first impression upon opening this bible is that it FEELS good! I bought the Navy leather-like cover. It is soft and pliable. Nice. Next I opened it to Genesis. Indexed bible is as stated. Yay! (many reviews stated that it was not indexed. Mine is.) I noticed immediately that the pages are no thinner than any other bible I own. That was the biggest complaint I read in the reviews, but honestly, I don't feel that these are thinner than the average bible. I like the Chapter reading plans. I have to say that this was a BIG seller for me. There are suggested readings and 'dig deeper' verses as well. The devotionals look good. I look forward to using this bible. I didn't give it a 5 because it doesn't have study notes, but if you're looking for a devotional bible with solid reading plans, this is a good choice!

Great quality, absolutely fantastic bible. This bible is not hard cover (the leather edition) and this makes the bible floppy, which I like. I find it works better for bible study for me because I can move around really quickly. For whatever reason, the stiffness in the hard cover is not as appealing for my bible.My only complaint on this bible is the pages are extremely thin. If you are planning to write in this bible, I recommend the Micron pens, which don't bleed through. As for journaling, this bible does have great space for margins but I think if you were trying to be really artsy with your journaling, you'd probably want to stick with a regular esv journaling bible.Overall, really happy with my purchase. I recently did a bible study online (not with the company that makes this bible fyi) and it seemed like everyone had a She Reads Truth bible.

This is a great bible! I originally bought the Crossway ESV Large Print journaling bible thinking I would be super into bible journaling but I just wasn't. So I went on another search and found this one. It has everything I wanted. Indexed tabs, soft cover, color, artwork, maps, reading plan and devotionals.The reasons I gave it a four star vs five is for the following:The pages are really thin, like other bibles, however, this is only a problem when the page before is a map or artwork.The index tabs seem like they would peel off over time and the light gray font makes it a little hard to read.The soft cover is REALLY soft and very flexible. It's okay but something a little more firm would have been better for such a thick bible.

I LOVE this Bible! Larger than some, but light enough to carry in a large purse or by hand. Moveable and easy to handle and flip through. Pages are thicker than I expected based on some reviews. I highlight, write with pens and draw with colored pencils and have had no problem with either form bleeding through the pages. The margins are easily large enough to take notes or draw in, and the illustrations are so well done. This is a must for anyone wanting to read or study the Bible.

I love SRT and love the CSB translation. This Bible is gorgeous, has so many great features (devotional, bolder texts and references, beautiful artwork, key verses and outlines, maps, etc). When I first received my order some of the Psalms pages were folded and hadn’t been cut properly, but Amazon was so amazing they let me keep it and sent me a replacement since they wouldn’t be able to resell the defected one. I didn’t want a Bible to be thrown away just because of some uncut pages, so I fixed them myself and gifted the Bible to my great aunt who didn’t have one. She’s in love with it, which is amazing. This is truly my favorite Bible I’ve ever had/seen/used!

After reading tons of reviews, I decided to go for it. The pages are slightly thin, but I have been writing in pencil, and it's fine, doesn't show through the back. I dont think pen or pushing hard with pencil would be good. The most important thing you need to know is that It. Is. Huge. and very heavy. Still buy it! The space in the margins is great, the way it's divided, the stories and artwork are great. Just know what you are getting. It's over 3 and a half pounds and two inches thick. It's more like a textbook than a grab and go Bible. Pick up something 3.7 lbs and see if it's for you :).....it's worth it for me, so I will still give it all stars!

Folman goes from one fellow veteran to the next, trying to get somebody to tell him what he can't remember. In 2006, Folman met up with a friend from his military service days, who told him of the recurring nightmares he had based on their experiences. Folman admitted to not remembering anything from the conflict and started a quest to find out what really happened to him during those traumatic days. He traveled across Europe interviewing former comrades, a reporter who covered the war, and his own psychologist to piece together at least some of the events that he lived through. As the story develops, both Folman and readers relive the terrors of the Sabra and Shatila Massacre, a tragedy that ended in the slaughter of more than 800 unarmed civilians by the Lebanese Christian Militia while Israeli forces let it happen. While Folman tackles many of the same wartime themes of violence and tragedy as Joe Sacco's Palestine (Fantagraphics, 2001), the additional explorations of memory and dream make the experience more personal. Polonsky's art reuses still images from the film. His clever eye for detail and creative sense for layout make the images explode on the page. This is a moving story related in the graphic format that is best known in comic books but has recently come into increasing use for serious novels and novelettes. The subject is an important one, based on real events in Lebanon in 1982. The principal protagonist and many of the other charactrs are Israelis who were performing their required military service at a time when Israel invaded Lebanon. Sent into Lebanon with little or no understanding of why, they soon found themselves ordered to shoot blindly in various directions, which at first they did with careless abandon. Gradually, however, they became aware that they were killing unarmed women, children and others. Many of these young Israelis suffered afterward from serious psychological problems. For the lead character, the result was complete loss of memory of what he was doing during that period, and the story is developed around his efforts, many years later, to recover that memory by talking with others who were in Lebanon at that time. That is the unfolding story of this graphic book, and it is not appropriate for me to disclose more of it here, or to say who Bashir is except that Bashir is not the protagonist's name.This work is powerful. For those not familiar with the events in Lebanon at that time, it is an intense way to gain some understanding of them, perhaps leading to more traditional book reading to get a broader historical picture. For those who do know the history quite well already, it is a vivid reminder of what is behind more recent happenings involving Israel and Lebanon. The story makes no mention of the U.S. role at the time, which was quite significant.

I found the book "Waltz With Bashir", since the film version is adapted from the graphic novel, to be one of the best true statements about war. With countless devastating, illegal and unnecessary conflicts spread about the world there is none (by soldiers from different observation positions) better than an eye-witness account. In near mint condition the book references the film virtually scene by scene.

The book itself is really nice, is a good work but the story I think was more deeply not just an another "story about", but the price was amazing!!!.

Very important book

This is what real war feels like. Confusing. Shameful. As a soldier in the Iraq war, I felt like the machine had been started by the powers that be. Once the machine is started, it is left unmonitored to do as much damage as possible. It doesn't matter when it stops or where or who it destroys in the process. It is war. You always hear that war is bad. I wish that meant something. Fact is, we will never learn. But there are some of us, Ari Folman included, that know the truth. And we will not be able to smile and go along with things the next time someone decides we need to start the machine.

Superb treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and "postmemory." Highly recommended. J. Incledon
