About the Author
In 1959, Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton co-created the timeless and beloved song "Puff, the Magic Dragon." Peter Yarrow’s career has spanned more than four decades. As a member of the renowned trio, Peter, Paul, & Mary, he has earned many gold and platinum awards and numerous Grammys, as well as an Emmy nomination for his animated TV specials based on "Puff, the Magic Dragon." Among the many honors bestowed upon him, Yarrow is most proud of the Allard K. Lowenstein Award, which he received in 1982 for advancing the causes of human rights, peace, and freedom. Today, he frequently uses his musical and other artistic gifts to convey a message of humanity and caring. In an effort to combat school violence, Yarrow started Operation Respect in 2000, a program that teaches tolerance and respect to children in schools and camps. Lenny Lipton is the inventor of the modern 3D projection system used in cinemas worldwide. He is the author of four books on motion picture technology and received an award from the Smithsonian for his invention. Eric Puybaret was born in France, and graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Puff, the Magic Dragon was his first American book, and he also illustrated Sterling's The Nutcracker, written by John Cech.

These illustrations are great and the song is wonderful, but note that the book is just the lyrics to the song with no added text. Therefore, it ends on a sad note even though the illustrations imply that a little girl came to play with Puff. (I hand wrote in an extra line about Puff meeting a little girl at the end for my four year old niece.)
My son is obsessed with the book and the dvd. The artwork is great and I love the classic story!
Beautiful book. The illustrations are enchanting and the ending is heart warming. My 2 year old grandson sat through the whole book which means it’s good. The book is large which is nice as many new books are small and so the art can’t be appreciated. I looked for more books by this artist.
Cute book and loved the CD that came with it; however, it's really hard to get the CD out of the packaging at first without cracking the CD. Be careful when you're detaching it from the plastic part! :-)
This is a beautiful book, and the cd is a favorite for kids. The main text of the book is the lyrics of the old song Puff The Magic Dragon, with beautiful art on each page that goes well with the lyrics. There is no addition to the story, just the lyrics, so if you expect more text content, you may feel disappointed. We love it, as is, and consider it a gem. At the end of the art and lyric text is a paragraph from the author of the lyrics that is interesting!
I loved the illustrations, the music is great, and the children love it!
Great for kids who love music! This book follows the song perfectly while kids and adults alike can enjoy the beautifully done pictures that capture the imagination. My granddaughter now knows the song Puff the Magic Dragon and we can sing along together. If only it was Peter, Paul and Mary were singing it.
This was my dad's favorite song and story. I still cry when I hear it and he has been gone 29 years. I lost the first copy I had. Thankfully someone had one with the cd!! Thank you!
