I ordered this book for my husband, for Christmas. He loved it! Not only are there lots of photos, but there are several very interesting stories about the oyster industry, too. Recipes and history make for a great book any oyster lover will appreciate!

It is a small book, but what a book. It contains fun and little-known facts, spectacular art work, and really awesome recipes. I grew up in the Northeast and remember home-made baked beans, Indian pudding, and baked stuffed quahogs. My mother's cooking is some of the best I ever tasted and I consider her one of the very best cooks. One of her best dishes is linguini with clams. I was so excited to see this and the afore-mentioned recipes included in this book. I was surprised, but delighted to see the recipe for steamed-mussels Basque-style. While the dialogue is poorly-written, the given information is fascinating. I agree with all the positive commentaries posted about this cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow. Items are easy to find in the glossary. And, the directions are simple, concise, and detailed. If you just love to cook and are looking for an excellent cookbook that offers home-style New England food fares, then this is the book for you. If you don't cook, but love displaying books on a coffee table, then this is a wonderful book to include. This book would make a great gift for any cooking enthusiast. If you have eaten at this restaurant and love it, you can serve your favorite dishes at home.

I visited Boston in September and for my birthday my eldest son and his wife took me to the Oyster House Restaurant. When I got home from my vacation I realized that I just had to have the Oyster House Cookbook and I've used a number of the recipes & have loved each and every one of them. It's a keeper.

I must have 50 different recipes for crab cakes. Union Oyster House is the easiest andbest flavor, of all mine. I did not even brown the cakes on the stove, merely cooked themin the oven. Delicious.

I am in food Heaven! The recipes are easy to follow and come out great! Love the pictures.

Can't go wrong with this history and these recipes. You need this on your cooking bookshelf!

Wonderful details!First, Melissa's book describes the types of leather, some of the tanning/dye processes, and basic supplies to complete projects. She includes substitutions for certain tools, which comes in handy if you have many of these tools on hand from sewing or metalworking. I really appreciate her safety note about leather processing. I think the info is invaluable if a customer is trying to avoid using more problematic materials.Fabulous designs!Her designs use lots of geometrics and look runway ready. I love how complex the look of each piece looks, yet how simple the projects are to assemble. Instructions include wonderful detail and explanations of processes. I cannot wait to try some of her techniques, and I absolutely love this inspirational book. If I could give more stars, I would!

I am so glad I bought this ! Great ideas, great instuctions and so much to build from. My mind is racing with ideas to make these beautiful pieces my own. This book is great for novices and more experiences jewelry artists. Basic instructions and preparation are easily understood and some novel approaches to leatherworking make this a great muse for the more experienced. Beautiful job Melissa !

Not for beginners. Instructions are often incomplete and sometimes vague. The authors assumes too much. Almost all her projects require tools beyond the basic ones that she describes at the beginning of the book. (That is OK with me as I am a tool person.) This book may be OK for someone with some experience in making leather jewelry as its does offer some interesting ideas.

The designs are simple and elegant that any leather worker could create them. Most of them can be done with veg-tanned leather too. The written details are eloquently done and the photo's are impeccable. Highly recommend this book to newbies and experienced leather workers.

Would recommend this book to anyone wanting to do something different with leather other than traditional leather work. I would also like to recommend Melissa's other books...you'll learn some awesome techniques from this awesome mixed media artist!

This is a well thought out resource book for those interested in making jewelry with leather. The pictures are great and there are many. There is definitely many lessons & projects in here for everyone.

I hope for a good understanding of tools, materials, and techniques. This book provides. The examples are interesting and the photos are gorgeous. I'll be re-reading after I go shopping.

Reading through the table of contents of the book I had this sense of familiarity. The first few chapters have been titled and themed in such a way that it bring to mind the creation story found in the Bible. Granted, that's not what this book is about and I don't believe the story of creation found in the pages of Genesis is meant to be taken as literal scientific fact, however, I appreciate the sense of wonder and significance the framing gives to the beginning of time (even though, taken as is, it's not as if the beginning of our universe was lacking in wonder). Still, by borrowing a bit from the structure of the Genesis story, I think Ackroyd gives a bit of familiarity to the history and science he's sharing. Ackroyd weaves together science, a storytellers skill, easy page layout, and fascinating pictures and illustrations for a good overview of the very beginning of our planet to the final emergence of Homo sapiens.

Enjoyed the story but just couldn't get past the numerous editing errors. I really enjoy this author's work, but I'm reaching my limit on the number of editing errors always to be found, especially in this novella. There were instances of multiple errors on a page and just using spellchecker isn't cutting it. Just as an author expects to be paid for their work, as the consumer, I expect the quality in the purchased product as well as respect for the readers. I shouldn't have to decipher what word or words should have been used in a sentence. The stars were deducted because of this constant and recurring issue.

Wow! This is off the damn chain! Blue has done it again and let me say it was definitely worth the wait! This tells all that was going on behind the scenes with Nelson and Talina; how strong Detra’s and Nelson’s friendship is. Also, we see more of what makes Detra Nelson’s badass right-hand!Cristóbal and Detra are a sexual inferno and Cristóbal isn’t going to let her keep running from their love. It’s good to see Detra almost vulnerable and discombobulated at Cristóbal’s changing their agreement and in denial about her love for him.Not sure who the woman is that’s gone or who may or may not have Malcom but I know that with Cristóbal, Detra, Nelson and Talina, things are just getting started!

Do you have one click authors? Blue Saffire is most definitely on my one click list and this book is another reason why. Although it’s just a novella, it is just as satisfying as her other books. I love that the heroine is a strong character that doesn’t need saving. She doesn’t allow her attraction for the hero to leaver her senseless but you can still feel the heat between them. It was nice to catch up with Nelson and Talia and get some answers to their story and I can’t wait to connect the rest of the dots when Manny and Gabriella’s story comes out. Keep them coming Ms. Saffire, your coming soon list has my one click finger very itchy!

So for me this was just an okay read and maybe it was because of all the grammatical errors and misspelled words I encountered. This caused the story for me to keep getting sidelined because I was trying to figure out what was supposed to be said or going on at that point. With that being said Cristo was truly an Alpha out to seize his love and the woman that stirred that desire in him.

As all of Blue's books, her h is always a strong caring woman. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate that. I am glad Detra got her own story, she was so cool in Funny Valentine. Cristo' was her perfect match. Loved him and his flexibility in knowing Detra needed her independence. The only issue I had was the editing. Not used to bad editing from Blue. Great read otherwise.

Although short it's a quick read with some great information. We have found no one in So. Oregon who knows how to effectively use tech to help a non-verbal child. This gave us great insights and ideas. It is very practical, useful and valuable especially if you don't have a good resource otherwise. Wonderful job and it's helped us move forward to help our grandson communicate.

This book is an excellent resource for families exploring AAC for their child(ren)! It really breaks down the process of selecting and utilizing a device. Families are informed and encouraged that this is a marathon (great analogy!) that takes time to train for and determination to complete the journey! Great resource!
