This book is one of his best. Though I have to also recommend Who Dies. I believe that is the best book I have EVER read.He recently passed and I am sure many of his friends and his wife Ondrea will miss him dearly. I have most of this records and almost all of his books.He was a master at getting one to listen and also soothing your soul. He is one person that I wish I could have met. I recommend this and all of his works without any reservations and with a happy heart.

If I could only have 5 books, this would be one of them. Essential meditations for healing locked-in pain, softening and learning to embrace the unloved parts of ourselves... These meditations (and I highly recommend the recorded versions of them available at Levine Talks as well) seem to work even when it seems like "nothing happens"-- I've noticed a gradual softening and warmth develop toward myself and others of a genuine sort that can't be faked. I now have "have mercy on you" as a bumper sticker! Life-changing stuff!

Good for a variety of focuses.

Stephen has created a very worthy offering. I have a close friend who is dealing with a cancer situation, which includes a lot of pain. I odered this book after seeing it at my local book store for double the price. It has alot of interesting information in it that will help me understand more of the local part in the Civil War.I odered this book thinking it would be something nice to have on those days you want something to do but not sure what.I love to explore. is a very nice book and a great price.

Excellent outlines for trips to civil war battlefields and sites. Easy to follow.

Do not make the mistake of gifting this to anyone with more than a passing knowledge of America's Civil War. Authors have no apparent affinity for or knowledge of Civil War and its landscape. Four "road trips" selected are not constructed thematically, and simply connect civil war (in some cases) related destination points without regard to civil war chronology, significance, or relationship to other destinations. Breezily written, comes off as a committee effort of cut and pasted entries from other sources loosely organized around random destinations. Incomplete dining and lodging information, particularly unhelpful outside of major metros. Major theaters and road trips left out - Unnderground Railroad, Shenandoah Valley, Peninsular campaign, Battle of Atlanta, Sherman's March, Lookout Mountain/Chicamauga/Resaca, important civil war cities like Baltimore, New Orleans, Chattanooga, Atlanta which are near enough to the included iteneraries that they should have been included. Entries on many non-civil war related attractions, with no indication why they should be included on a civil war road trip itenerary. If you want a complete dining and tourist guide to D.C., Richmond, Charleston, Memphis and Nashville, best to get city specific dining and tourist guides. This book. The map is ridiculous and far less informative than maps available from the National Park Service. Lonely Planet country guides are the best, but this project is ridiculous and unworthy of the brand.

This is going to be a very interesting summer read for a chained-to-my-office-chair physical state ... ain't nothin' stoppin' me, honey, from gallivanting to my mind's borderless content ... ;-). From the overnight Amtrak train I took in 2014 from Washington, DC to Atlanta, Georgia, the tracks rolled over areas of history that threw America, USA, into its Civil War. As a child, I learned this part of history with my American classmates, yet when I took this train ride, every town and city that passed by my landscape view increasingly breathed life into some dormant brain cells. I vowed to upgrade my education, and so, here it is ... Happy trails - I tell myself! :-)

I have traveled the southern US viewing many civil war sites. There are many better books than this on the market. Save your money and buy something else.

The states covered in this book are Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Maryland, the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia.Some sites in Washington D.C. are also covered.

Dr. Reilly’s book is a must read on the epidemic of hate crime hoaxes, especially given the recent high profile case of Jussie Smollet. The mainstream media and social media sites are quick to report on alleged hate crimes with little or no evidence or investigation. They also fail miserably to ask difficult questions and follow up when presented with contradictory evidence. Additionally, many media sites have recently removed articles that they have published about fake hate crimes.

This is an important book because of the issue it addresses -- the poisoning of American life by hate crime hoaxes. Most hate crimes actually take place, but a disturbingly significant number are actual hoaxes, and many of our highest profile allegations turn our to be just that: hoaxes. Viewed thus, the recent Jussie Smollett case -- should the police case against him be proven to be true -- is not a rare event. The author discusses a wide range of cases, which are often unsubstantiated claims made about threats, assaults, and worse agains members of religious, sexual, and racial minorities. He also includes claims made by whites against these same groups that turn out to be unwarranted. He makes enough of an empirical case to support his claim that about 15% of hate claims are hoaxes, and it might rise to as much as 50% of college campuses. This is a credible claim, but it must be noted that it is far from conclusive, as it is hard to determine just how large the total universe of hate crimes may be, as some portion go unreported and there is sufficient doubt that another portion that have been recognized as hate crimes are actually misinterpreted or highly exaggerated. Nevertheless, I only gave this book 4 stars because it is badly written and organized, with a lot of repetition. In addition, the author has an unfortunate tendency to constantly make snide asides to the audience that detract from the narrative. I have no idea why the editor didn't do a better job with the book and eliminate these distractions. Regnery is a well known conservative publishing house and I have noticed that conservative writers -- even ones like the usually thoughtful Guy Benson -- have a proclivity for making snarky not so clever witticisms. Leftists usually don't write this way, although they tend to annoy us with breathless high dudgeon and outrage. It is unclear what Wilfrid Reilly's affiliations may be -- and it really doesn't matter -- but his commitment to transparency and honesty is clear throughout. Also, his primary motivation for writing the book -- to make the case that our tolerance of these hoaxes is eroding confidence in majority-minority relations that are the best they have been in American history (although more needs to be done to help Americans treat each other better) -- is laudable. His final chapter on what should be done:"1) understand that many hate crimes are hoaxes, 2) actively and aggressively punish individuals discovered to have faked bias crimes, 3) stop making excuses for these criminals, and 4) stop the flow of benefits with which we currently reward these crimes."is right on the money.Reilly's great achievement is to have put the issue on the table, and it is something that social scientists need to turn their attention to.

Hate crimes cannot be dismissed as a phantom of the Leftist mind; witness the recent mosque attack in New Zealand. But a disturbing number of them are false, doubtful or trivial. And far too many people have an ideological or institutional interest in finding, inventing , or provoking them. Reilly's book is full of excellent examples that make this point (and is an entertaining read besides). I find his view of race in America too sunny (though as an African American his witness is valuable), but many, perhaps most, of the currently fashionable remedies only make things worse. Anyone interested in racial and other 'diversity' issues should read this book,.

if you follow current events nothing in this book will surprise you. it's frightening, however, to be reminded of just how often these things happen and the lengths the media will go to make you believe that which your eyes just don't see.

Dr Reilly wrote an intelligent study with well documented hoax hate crimes with expert views from a diverse person and conservative academic voice rarely heard. His sources are all accurate with arguments that promote positive thought on a relevant issue today. It really made me question the climate of college campuses today that would breed so many hoax hate crimes and the mental illness of a person who would make it up. Some of it was over my head but the audience was likely meant to be other PhDs. I am not ready to abolish hate crime laws but think we need to focus on hate group members with them. We also need to remember hate crimes still happen and fake ones are a small percentage. I going to read some Thomas Sowell based on this book and pray for peace among all groups.

A wonderful book showing how parenting trends among royal families have developed and changed over the past 1000 years. I particularly enjoyed how Harris linked the chapters by filling in a bit about how the families were connected at the end of a chapter. My only wish were that it was a much longer book - with more families and more information included - I didn't want the book to end.

Lots of historically based international anecdotes and perspectives on parenting over hundreds of years of royalty. Definitely recommend it even for the casual student of history.

Unexpected very good book and good writing style.

Raising Royalty : 1000 Years of Royal Parenting by Carolyn Harris takes a unique view of European history through the lenses of twenty royal couples and their children. Harris is a professor with a PhD in European History whose writings on the history of royalty in the U.K. and Europe have appeared in the form of books and articles in notable publications such as the Smithsonian and the BBC News Magazine so she knows whereof she speaks. It was a fascinating and very readable book, but also very well researched and documented. I think It will also be valued by libraries as a good reference source on this topic in future years. It begins in the year 968 with Edgar the Peaceable and Elfrida of Northampton and ends with William and Kate and their two children George and Charlotte in the twenty-second century. The book examines many other fascinating royal parents in between including Britain's William the Conqueror, Henry VIII, Victoria and Albert, and Charles and Diana. Russia's Peter the Great and Nicholas and Alexandra also make the list as do France's Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Did you know that the Dutch Queen Julianna and her family lived in Canada during World War II when the Nazis invaded Holland? Imagine being her child growing up in Canada and then having to return to the Netherlands just after it was ravaged during WWII. Stories of intrigue and power flow through the pages of this book as do stories of domesticity and love. If you are fascinated by European history or royalty or parenting or all of the above you will enjoy this book! This is a wonderful book that follows 20 European royal couples and their parenting styles as seen by the public. It discusses each European ruler and the relationships they had with their spouses and their children Often, it was found that the mother was very protective of her children and does all she can to promote them in the eyes of their father. In addition, many female children were placed in convents and the males were placed in the homes of barons and church leaders for them to complete their education.Early generations of royal children saw very little of their parents for different reasons. Many parents did not want to be burdened with the day-to-day needs of their children. They also had royal duties that required their attention.I found it fascinating how each of the royal couples had differing views of raising their children which sometimes made for sorrow for some mothers who weren’t allowed to be with their children. These families had large numbers of children up to 14 and more. Sadly, many of them never survived infancy.I liked how the book included each ruler and the political beliefs of each of them. There were also big differences between families due to religious beliefs. The Catholic and Protestant faiths caused lots of friction. The impact of this on the children was huge resulting in anger and even death.If I was a writer, I would want to have this book close by as a reference novel as it is chock full of lots of great facts about the 1000 years it covers. Just to read the book is enlightening for anyone and I highly recommend it. I also commend the author for her incredible work in writing this great reference book.I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I'm satisfied with this product. Has large zipped pocket on outside 10.5" x 6". I don't really like the velcro that holds the outer fold down - would prefer a button snap or something, but it is still functional. Inside has a place to hold a notepad 6.25" wide. Also has a mesh pocket that zips shut 6.25" wide, 5" deep. Has another pocket that is about 5"x5" that has a velcro flap which can hold something up to 1" thick. Then, 2 pen holder pockets, 4 small pockets that look like they could hold credit cards, business cards, or photos 3 5/8" wide. Then, on the inner-most portion is where the Bible goes. This portion zips shut. Looks like two more pen holders on each side of where the Bible would be. Has two flap things that I am assuming are for placing the front and back outer cover of the Bible into, or maybe for stuffing papers in. My Bible just fits perfectly, which measures about 9.5" x 6 5/8" x 1 5/8". If your Bible is bigger than these dimensions, it probably won't fit.

The review and dimensions that "the Truth "Bryan" " gave, were very accurate and led me to buy this product. It is perfect for my NIV Bible. I am thinking of uploading some pictures to have a better idea of this product. It is really a good organizer. I just whish there were more colors.

The size of this bible cover is 12.1 x 9.2 x 2.1 inches so it is one of the larger ones, but still measure your bible before you buy. It is disappointing to find out it is too small for your bible, AFTER you buy it. Make sure the tote is a good bit larger than the size of your bible so it fits INSIDE. I agree that it would be useful for any Bible cover companies that sell here to just list the maximum size of bible the tote is intended for. It has nice built in flaps to hold the bible cover in place, but again it needs to fit first. To make this easy If your bible is taller than 9 ½ inches, wider than 6 ½ inches closed, and thicker than 2.5 inches it may not fit. By the way, for this style and material, this is the largest size I found here at Amazon.com.Now the photo descriptions on the bible cover are not accurate as to what is inside, the layout is very different. So here is my description.Good quality black nylon case, has handle, with a Velcro flap. Nice outer tab with the Christian fish logo. 1 exterior 10" x 6" flat zippered pocket for papers. To gain access to the rest you have to open a velcro flap. Upon opening, it layes flat with two sides facing you. On one side there is a space for a notepad (not included) maximum 6" wide x 9" long. Behind the notepad if you put one in, is a mech zippered pocket, 6" wide x 4.5" tall. There is also an opening the length of the flap behind where the notepad would go, great for stuffing brochures or newsletters. It is 6" x 9".On the opposing side there are 4 slots or 4 card holders and one is clear for an ID or business card. Next to that are 2 more pen holders. Next to that is a 5" x 5" pocket with a velcro flap. Behind this area is a zippered area for your Bible. It has flaps to hold the cover of your bible in place if you choose to use them. I don't, I like to take my Bible out. In this interior there are 2 more pen holders, one on each side of the Bible. When the cover is open flat on a table with your bible open, it does not take very much more space than the Bible itself. It is very functional when open, and easy to read your Bible.Personally I do not like the use of Velcro in the bag, it is noisy. But maybe they will fix this in the next version; as it is this one is an update to their previous model. I recommend this Bible tote, but also check the "Purpose Driven Life Bible Cover". And to fully prepare your Bible cover for dutym may I recommend the Majestic brand Bible accessory kit too, with the markers, tabs and magnifying bookmark. It's big. And sturdy. And big. It holds everything my husband needs when he carries his Bible. Pen? Check! Notepad? Check! Bulletins from the last ten Sundays? No, wait. That's MY Bible.My husband has a large study Bible, and this organizer holds it securely. It is well-designed and does not come open when you least expect it. The handle has held up well, also. He has carried it for about a year now and is very pleased with it. When it is packed with everything he carries, it doesn't lie completely flat. It's a little rounded in the middle. Maybe he should carry less stuff... But he doesn't have to because this organizer can accommodate it.

This is really nice and sturdy. I was disappointed that it was so big for my Children's ESV. Oh well, son doesn't care. I like all the pockets and zippers. There's a spot to put a small notebook inside the flap (plus 2 smaller pockets on top of that, one zipped), then a big zippered compartment on the outside of the flap. Inside (on top of the Bible) is a velcro pocket, 2 pen pockets and a few pockets for scripture memory cards (?). The Bible can be zipped up in it so it doesn't flop around even though it's too small for the cover! There's one loop for a pen next to the Bible. Big velcro tab on the flap holds it closed. Great cover for the price!!

Amazing case. I bought it for my husband for Christmas and I now wish I had bought one for myself as well. Lots of space for a notebook, highlighters, pens, your bible, a thin book, and more!

I bought the item listed here and am sorely disappointed. To me value means that you get something nice at a price below suggested retail prices. Not the case with this item. "Value" means it is cheap, corners were cut. It feels as though I could rip the fabric of the inner compartments by hand. For just 3 or 4 dollars more you can get a really nice on that I also purchased on Amazon. It is listed as a Large Black Polyester 3 fold Bible Cover. I purchased both with the intention of giving one as a gift and keeping the other for myself. I am so glad that I did not purchase 2 of these because I would have been highly embarrassed to have given this as a gift to someone. The only reason I purchased 2 different covers was so that I wouldn't get mine mixed up with the person whom the gift was for because we are often in close proximity and it would be easy to often get ours mixed up. I will definitely be upgrading to something of a nicer quality that will still allow me to distinguish our covers from one another. Check out the link to the other Bible Cover.
