Inspirational story. There are difficult concepts but the author does a great jub of explaining in terms youg children can understand. My 6 year old granddaughter asked to hear the book multiple times, with many questions. She them wanted to know more about Malala and the lives of other girls like her. The book gently opened a door into a harsh reality, but was so careful to emphasize the positive aspects of Malala's story that it interests, rather than scares, younger readers. Adept handling of complicated issues; the book doesn't demand in-depth political investigations, but opens the door for such investigations. Very well written! A good book for any child.

I gave this to my nine year old niece who has some learning difficulties. I keep a book case full of books in my guest room for us to read together or for her to read alone. She loves this story . I have found her several times upstairs in the quest room reading this book .She asks so many questions about Malala and I think it has broadened her understanding about women’s right to an education in other countries. We have had many discussions about this book .She came over the other day and was very excited to tell me that her teacher knows all about Malala , too .This is a wonderful book and all young girls should know about Malala’s courageous fight for the right for girls to be educated everywhere !!!

This biography is well done. It doesn't reveal too many details about Malala being shot in the head yet, it is honest about her adversity. It speaks the truth but not in a condemning way just factual about the Taliban's takeover and Pakistani women suffering. Malala is a hero and a mentor for women everywhere. This comes out in the book. The illustrations are good, there is plenty of information for 2nd and 3rd graders book reports and the quality of the book is nice. I have many of these Step into Reading biographies. All are high interest with the students and the teachers. This means win win for me in the library.

I bought this book to use as a read-a-loud in my classroom and my students loved it! This is a great book to use when wanting to capture your student's attention, while teaching them about craft and informational texts. Prior to this book, I had heard of Malala, but didn't know much about her; it was lovely learning about her with my students! I recommend!

Great book for my seven-year-old to learn about this remarkable young woman. Step-into-reading books are great for new readers and help parents pick books of the right reading level for their children. Glad to see some strong women featured in their series!

Malala is such a strong caring female that battled her way through what she felt was the Pakistan government mistreating females and their citizens.

Getting more information about Malala made this an easy read. Presenting her story without every single detail told me what I wanted to know and whetted my appetite to read her own books. I am very glad I read this.

I am Malala is a very inspiring book that Chronicles the life of a young girl living in Pakistan who showed more bravery then most adults have in their entire lives! She shows the world a different aspect of what it means to be a Muslim living in an area where radicals and terrorists do all they can to break down the people and shut them down from communication with the rest of the world. as a young girl she did what most wouldn't and stood up for her beliefs even if it meant death! This is a superbly great read for anyone. If you enjoy this book I would suugest watching the movie "He named me Malala." Both the book and the movie show us that her name is very suiting to the type of person she is and that she was named after. This girl shows us, the rest of the world that one voice, even that of a child, can change the world and that education is one of the most important things to fight for, most of us in the Western world tend to take for granite how many children truly do not have access to education, especially girls, this is something Malala fought, and continues to fight for, the rest of the world should take after her and follow her footsteps to make sure all kids, especially girls in religiously persecuted areas have access to quality information and technology so that one day the world can be a better place!
